“Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.” 1 Peter 2:11-12
People of God, abstaining from sinful desires implies restraining oneself from the lust of the human flesh, which alienates us from God. It is worth noting that this can only be achieved through a consistent engagement with the Holy Spirit, who enables the believer to walk consistently in righteousness. In our daily walk with Christ, we must consciously make room for the Holy Spirit to enable us abstain from fleshly desires.
