ABSTAIN FROM SINFUL DESIRES
“Dear friends, I urge you, as foreigners and exiles, to abstain from sinful desires, which wage war against your soul. Live such good lives among the pagans that, though they accuse you of doing wrong, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day he visits us.”
1 Peter 2:11-12
Dear people of God, Christianity preaches abstinence from ungodly practices. Abstaining from sinful desires implies restraining oneself from the lust of the human flesh which leads to actions contrary God’s spiritual and moral standards. To abstain from sinful desires, the believer is expected to rely on the power of the Holy Spirit, who enables us to walk consistently in righteousness, and consciously refuse to walk the path of inequity.
